Software Audit and Licensing
A fast-growing national service company had experienced double-digit growth in acquisitions. They had acquired more than 50 brands nationwide in a short period and were now faced with consolidating, right-sizing and streamlining their technology expense management, especially in their software licenses.
Details
- The customer’s software agreement had significant price increases over the previous contract period
- The company was already paying more without even realizing the cost increases
- Their projected software licensing costs were not accurately reflected in their overall spend and was impacting their technology budget and forecasts
- Due to all the acquisitions, the company did not have the time or resources to properly review the use of all licenses
OVATION eliminated waste for unused or rarely used licenses. We identified licenses and risks for downward migration due to size limitations that would have impacted conversions.
The project also included reconfiguring the licensing distribution and assisting in implementing an email data retention policy, leading to additional savings.
We aligned the customer with a more diverse publishing vendor allowing for greater discounting opportunities relating to licenses and equipment via a total aggregate spend, therefore saving the client over $140K in annual savings and over $420K savings over 3 years.
